We're collaborating with Colliderfest, a four-day science and arts extravaganza celebrated throughout the city of Hull!

On the 15th & 16th March, between 10am and 3pm, come along to The Deep and get hands-on with a varied programme of fascinating, hands-on science workshops and experiments! No pre-booking is required, just drop in!

Join our Crew for Let's Get Glowing, a series of science-based activities hosted in our Sea Labs exploring the deep sea world of bioluminescence.

Step into Sea Lab 2, our dark room, which takes a closer look at the differences between bioluminescence and biofluorescence through UV shark models and a fun UV colouring activity. Take a peek at real live examples of bioluminescence through Dinoflagellates!

Next, head on over to our light room, Sea Lab 3, for a series of games and experiments! There will be artistic projections and an interactive magic floor, alongside the opportunity to have your very own UV tattoo!

Then, pop along to Reception to learn about the University of Hull's rewilding approach, which integrates ecological monitoring, social science, and carbon capture strategies. Engage with their landscape board to share your vision for the future, and experience hands-on demonstrations of field equipment, including trail cameras and acoustic recorders.

These activities are FREE of charge; no entry ticket to The Deep is required to be purchased in order to attend the Colliderfest activities alone. However, standard admission tickets would need to be purchased for entry into the main aquarium, unless you are an Existing Annual Pass Holder.
