Continuing the fantastic work of our friends at Chester Zoo, working in partnership with AAK and Murdoch Associates we would like your help to make Hull & East Yorkshire a Sustainable Palm Oil region.
What is palm oil?
- It is a fantastic product, which is widely used around the world due to its low cost and efficiency in food, cosmetics, cleaning products and much more.
- Palm oil supplies 35% of the world’s vegetable oil from just 10% of the global land dedicated to oil crops.
However, unsustainably produced palm oil is causing harm to the planet's wonderful rainforests, river systems and the species that call them home.
Partners we would like to engage with include:
- Restaurants, cafes, hotels and fast food outlets.
- Workplaces that offer staff catering services.
- Schools, colleges and universities, council food outlets, and hospitals.
- Manufacturers.
- Visitor attractions and leisure facilities.

Sign The Pledge: Fill in the form below to let us know that your business is committed to ensuring that the food products you buy and sell contain only sustainable palm oil.
Make One Change: From a product that contains unsustainable palm oil to one that contains sustainable palm oil. Ask your supplier or use our shopping guide for help! If you only sell sustainable palm oil products then that is great – you don’t need to make a change.
Spread The Word: Using our toolkit below to help, add a statement to your website to communicate that as a business, you will work towards sourcing only sustainable palm oil products. Why not shout about the good news on social media?
The Sustainable Palm Oil Communities Ambassador Programme is an initiative which aims to spread awareness of Sustainable Palm Oil Communities project led by Chester Zoo and increase the demand for sustainable palm oil across the United Kingdom.
If you are a company or organisation who is already doing great work for sustainable palm oil you have the power to support the Sustainable Palm Oil Communities project and spread awareness of the importance of sustainable palm oil by becoming a Sustainable Palm Oil Communities Ambassador!
By joining this programme, you become part of a network of Sustainable Palm Oil Communities Ambassadors who spread awareness of this mission and encourage businesses to make the change from unsustainable to sustainable palm oil. Together, we can transform the market and empower companies across the UK to drive the palm oil industry in the right direction and help to protect wildlife and habitats all over the world.
We know we can protect wildlife by buying products made with deforestation-free, sustainable palm oil from companies who support a sustainable industry.
