Endless Ocean

2.5 million litres of water and 87 tonnes of salt make Endless Ocean home to some of the most fascinating animals in the sea.

Representing the vast open oceans, this habitat provides a fish-eye view into the amazing underwater world of the deep oceans.

See a variety of sharks and rays, including Whitetip reef sharks, Nurse shark, Grey reef sharks, Zebra sharks, Honeycomb whiptail rays and Green sawfish. It is also home to a pair of rescued Loggerhead sea turtles.

Enjoy the opportunity to watch these species from two viewing windows in Endless Ocean, then head to our awe-inspiring Underwater Tunnel and exit the aquarium via our Bubble Lift or Scenic Stairs for a truly immersive experience!

Loggerhead sea turtle

Caretta caretta

Loggerhead sea turtles are named after their large head and jaws, which have the power to crush the shells of small sea creatures. Our two turtles were rescued from the wild after being caught on fisherman's long lines, which damaged their lower jaws.

Zebra shark

Stegostoma tigrinum

Zebra sharks are so called because they are born with black and white stripes on their body, but these change to spots as they mature. As juveniles, they are roughly just 20 centimetres long, but can grow up to 3.5 metres in length.

Honeycomb whiptail ray

Himantura uarnak

They are a bottom dwelling species found in sandy bays, tidal flats, brackish lagoons and sea grass flats. Their maximum disc width is about 2 metres wide, and some females have been known to live for 29 years!

Green sawfish

Pristis zijsron

The Green sawfish is the largest of all the sawfish species, reaching lengths of up to 7 metres! Whilst they look like sharks, they are actually rays and are a bottom dwelling species. They are named because of their teethed rostra, used to stun schooling fish by swinging side to side.
